Pass Terms

Version v1.0 · Effective July 20, 2026.

01What the pass is

A Shortlist pass is a marketing product tied to a specific monthly campaign. Each pass carries a dollar-denominated $10 credit at each participating venueon that campaign’s shortlist, redeemable in person, plus votes toward deciding the city’s best in the category. The credit is spendable on anything the venue sells — food, non-alcoholic items, merchandise, or (where applicable and only for guests 21+) alcohol. The pass is not a coupon for alcohol and is never redeemable exclusively for alcohol.

02Campaign window

Each pass is tied to a defined campaign window shown at purchase and on the campaign page. Credits are honored at participating venues during that window (plus a reasonable wind-down period for unexpired credits). The Shortlist is a marketing company and is not a liquor licensee; venues are the sole sellers of alcohol and control every transaction, including ID checks and the right to refuse service.

03Paid value vs. promotional value

Every pass has two components, disclosed at purchase:

  • Paid value — the amount you actually paid for the pass. Consistent with the federal CARD Act, your paid value does not expire for at least five (5) years and remains redeemable per these terms during that period.
  • Promotional value— the additional credit uplift above what you paid (the “bonus”). Promotional value is clearly labeled as promotional and expires at the end of the campaign window, as disclosed at purchase.

Example disclosure pattern: “This pass includes a paid value and a promotional bonus. The promotional value expires at campaign end; your paid value does not expire before five years.”

04How credits are honored

Credits are promotional venue credits, redeemed in person and applied by the venue as tender against its normal full menu prices. Credits are not gift cards for cash, have no cash value beyond any paid value, and cannot be exchanged for cash except where required by law. There are no dormancy, inactivity, or service fees on any pass value.

05Eligibility and ID

Where a campaign involves venues that serve alcohol, redemption of the credit toward alcohol is limited to guests who are 21 or older, and a valid government-issued ID is required. Venues may refuse service in their sole discretion and in accordance with their normal policies and applicable law.

06Refunds

Policy placeholder — flagged for review: a pass is refundable before its first credit redemption, within the campaign window. Once any credit has been redeemed, the pass is non-refundable. The final refund policy will be confirmed and posted here.
